I Live Here, I Give Here’s mission is to deepen and expand the culture of personal philanthropy by inspiring Central Texans to invest more money in our community. We educate and connect individuals and non-profits so more Central Texans experience the personal benefit of increased philanthropy.

Did you know that according to a study done by The Chronicle of Philanthropy in 2012, Austin is ranked 32nd out of the 50 largest cities in the nation in per capita charitable giving? This is a big improvement over our ranking at the beginning of the 21st century when we ranked 48, but there is still a lot of room for growth!

Austin is a vibrant city with a personality all its own. Central Texans are passionate, driven, and generous volunteers of their time and talent. But that’s not enough. The biggest problem facing Austin Nonprofits is there is not enough money.

Our community is well known for cherishing its environment and local businesses, its time to nurture our home-grown nonprofits in the same way!

We depend on our nonprofits to meet so many of the Austin's most basic needs; but the shortage of funds for these organizations is creating large gaps in services.

This is where I Live Here, I Give Here steps in. Our main purpose is to connect people like YOU with the issues you care about and the Nonprofits that support them.

I Live Here, I Give Here is proud of the work we have accomplished since our launch in 2007. We connect the people of Austin with the causes they care about.

We partner with nonprofit groups so they can be more accessible to you. We spotlight specific needs in Austin every month to let you know how you can help.

I Live Here, I Give Here … the name of our organization reflects a deep personal commitment: yours and mine. It is a commitment we share with thousands of our neighbors who demonstrate their love for our city in countless acts of generosity every single day.

When I Live Here, I Give Here was first created, there was a sense in some quarters that our community was not as generous as it should be, that we didn’t rank as highly in philanthropy as we did in “weirdness.” However, I believe that Austin’s naysayers have been proved wrong. Austin never suffered from a lack of generosity, our generosity suffered from a lack of vehicles that unleashed its amazing power.

I Live Here, I Give Here’s Amplify Austin online giving day in March 2013 was proof that Austin is indeed a generous place. $2.8 million dollars was raised for over 320 participating nonprofits in just 24 hours!

Now, you can help I Live Here, I Give Here have an even greater impact in 2014. Please make a tax deductible year-end gift to support the continued success of Amplify Austin!

Volunteer Opportunities This December!

by The I Live Here, I Give Here Team
December 12, 2013

Hello December! With a new holiday cheer-filled month comes many opportunities to spread cheer and learn about this month’s Community Needs Spotlight. This month we are focusing on Health and Wellness Services. There are many ways to get involved, from attending fundraisers, to volunteering, to making donations. Let’s make this holiday season unforgettable and full of philanthropy.

Did you know that you could potentially help save over 500 lives if you donate blood every three months? Find out how you can get involved in blood donation through The Blood Centers of Central Texashttp://www.inyourhands.org/aboutblooddonation.php

Are you a survivor of cancer or were you a caregiver for someone with cancer? Cancer Connection needs your help to provide support services to current cancer patients and their loved ways. The next volunteer training session is December 13-14. http://www.thecancerconnection.org/getinvolved.html

Are you interested in fitness and nutrition? WeViva has lots of opportunities to get involved in making sure low-income communities have access to fitness and nutrition programs. http://weviva.org/get-involved/

It is difficult to know how many homeless people there are at any point in time. Knowing the number is critical in assessing the well being of Austin area’s homeless population and in securing the greatest level of funding the federal government will give Travis County’s homeless service providers. One way to help get those numbers in Austin is to assist ECHO (Ending Community Homelessness Coalition) in their annual Point in Time Count. They need volunteers to help canvas the city for one day to count the number of sheltered and unsheltered homeless men, women, and children in Austin. The first volunteer training session is December 14. http://www.austinecho.org/count/

Do you believe that early education is the key to a lifetime of success? Find out how to get involved with Breakthrough Austin and help get low-income students into college. http://www.breakthroughaustin.org/about-us/mission-vision

Do you enjoy shopping for others? Check out Front Step’s wish list and find out how you can help provide a pathway out of homelessness. http://www.frontsteps.org/how-to-help/donate/wish-list

Would you like to support the arts this season while enjoying it at the same time. Go to Conspirare’s Spellbound, CYC Holiday Concert. The event is December 13 and 14. http://conspirare.org/concerts/upcoming-events/

We Can Raise $4 Million For Great Causes With Your Support

by The I Live Here, I Give Here Team
December 5, 2013

Tis’ the season to be jolly, and we believe that the highlight of the season is the generosity in holiday giving. I Live Here, I Give Here is active all year round in helping Central Texans impact their community by making giving easy, fun, and more than just seasonal.

It’s why we started Amplify Austin. In 2013, Amplify Austin raised $2.8 million for local causes in 24 hours. Those generous dollars went to more than 300 local causes. Causes that ranged from improving literacy for school children, to providing end-of-life healthcare, to saving local wildlife, and to providing shelter and food to the homeless.

Central Texans stepped up and made Amplify Austin a huge success. Thank you, Central Texas. Thank you for taking a stand to change Austin, love Austin, and truly Amplify Austin. Your dollars touched many humans in this community. We’re simply thankful we can be the vessel for Central Texas’ outstanding generosity.

And on March 20 - 21, 2014, from 6pm to 6pm, Central Texas’ giving day is back. We’ve set a goal of $4 million raised for more than 400 nonprofits. It can happen. We know it can.

But we need your support. We ask that as you consider your end-of-year giving, please think about donating to I Live Here, I Give Here. We have a lot of good to give through Amplify Austin and our other programs but we cannot continue their success without your support.

The first $5,000 in donations made by December 31, 2013, to the “Amp-Up Fund” will be matched on a one-to-one basis by a friend of I Live Here, I Give Here! This supporter is an example of how we can change our community on a large scale, all at once, with the most impact. It’s not about one but the greater good of everyone. Please consider joining them.

Thank you for considering us in your holiday generosity and for helping us to keep Central Texas giving. If you choose to make a donation, please click here.

Crank up the giving and #AmplifyATX March 20-21!
